About the Author

草堂主人者，山東冠縣人，少喜讀書，好古文，學問不輟，歷濟南、上海，輾轉而至美國，迄今二十餘年矣。現居加州，以病理醫生為業。以詩言志，以道會友，周遊天下，樂此不疲，不知老之將至也。

The Master of Starlit Cottage was born in Guan County, Shandong. From an early age he delighted in books, developed a lasting affection for the Chinese classics, and never ceased the pursuit of learning. His journey carried him from Jinan to Shanghai, and eventually across the Pacific to the United States, where he has lived for more than two decades. He now resides in California, practicing diagnostic pathology. Through poetry he gives voice to his convictions; through a shared pursuit of truth he finds enduring friendship. He delights in traveling the world, and pursues these joys with such quiet devotion that he scarcely notices old age drawing near.

遂建星河草堂，序之曰：

Thus was founded Starlit Cottage, and its preface is written as follows:

星河浩瀚，草堂卑微，渺予小子，偏居宇宙一隅，上下求索，得此方寸之地。

The galaxy is boundless; this humble cottage is small. I, a mere wayfarer, dwell in but a forgotten corner of the universe. Seeking above and below, I have at last found this little place to call my own.

耕之耘之，怡然自樂，名之曰星河草堂。

Here I till and tend the land, finding quiet joy in the labor. Thus have I named it Starlit Cottage.

至若有朋自遠方來，談經論道，把酒言歡，快何如哉！

Should friends come from distant lands, we shall discourse on the Classics, ponder the Way, raise our cups in cheerful fellowship, and rejoice together. What greater delight could there be?

偕二三子，同氣相求，究天人之本末，傳風骨於無窮，豈不美與！

Together with a few kindred spirits, united in heart and purpose, may we inquire into the mysteries of Heaven and humanity, and pass on a spirit of integrity and grace without end. Could there be anything more beautiful?
